Distance : 88km
Course description
We're heading out to the south east this time. From Officer we'll head south east across farm roads to Nar Nar Goon for the 1st stop. Then north, some forest and a few hills to the 2nd stop at Gembrook before heading south and mostly downhill back to Officer station. Less climbing than the last ride.Route is a lot smoother than the Belgrave ride, a CX bike is ideal but if a roady with 28's is all you got bring that.
7.45am Flinders train arrives at Officer at 8.52 with no changes.
There is no 'official' shorter route but there is a Vline station at Nar Nar Goon that accepts myki if you need it.
Route Info
Cue Sheets
GPX File
Update 13/6 : Had to re-route course to avoid everyone getting their feet wet early on, now 88kms with ~900m of climbing.
Update 24/6: there is nothing at Officer station (no toilets, no food, not even a coke machine) so bring food for the 1st leg or else its a 1.5km ride to a servo.
Is there a .gpx about for the ride?

DeleteIf one were to roll up on a Brompton, would those in the know snort with derision? Or might it not be unpleasant riding?
ReplyDeletepeople have ridden these rides with less appropriate bikes (see a previous edition and some guys on a tandem and flat pedals).
Deleteif you are comfortable on gravel and the distance, why wouldnt you?
you will be guaranteed high-fives from many people!
It'd be a first, and I reckon if your confident of the kms come along, but yes something with bigger tyres will be more comfortable.
ReplyDeleteGravel on a Brompton. Sick!
ReplyDeleteHey if someone lost some sunnie on the ride get in touch and we'll try get them back to you, Mike
