Course description

This is a scenic tour of the beautiful south-east. Starting at Belgrave station (at the southern or bus stop side of the station), we'll head out through big old forest to the Beachcombers-esque Cardinia Reservoir. Then it's dirt roads down to Pakenham Upper (checkpoint 1), then more dirt roads and an aqueduct trail across to Beaconsfield Upper before shooting across to Lysterfield Lake Park where we'll visit the cafe/bike shop at Trailmix (checkpoint 2) for a well-earned coffee break. From there it's a short hop back to Belgrave Train Station or you can take the long way and hit up some Lysterfield MTB trails. Your call!

This is a moderately hilly ride with little flat terrain. The MGG Garmin reports about 1300m of climbing. There are no sustained climbs - it's just kinda lumpy. There are some fantastic views, some nice fast descents and just enough rough stuff to make you feel like you've earned that second muffin at Trailmix.

Train times

If you're catching the train out to Belgrave you've got two options :

Leave Flinders St 7:36am  -  Arrive Belgrave 8:50am
Leave Flinders St 8:06am  -  Arrive Belgrave 9:20am

Either way, you'll have to change trains at Ringwood. Or better yet, why not ride out to the start!

Cue Sheet

The cue sheet can be found here.

Note : The course has been altered slightly to remove a small section of private property.

  1. I'd love to do this but it's the same day as the Wombat 100. If I wasn't already registered for the race I'd do this instead.

  2. I'm going to miss this one too - I was hanging for it too. But I've already planned some touring and camping in the high country. I might have crack at it solo later on - have good one.

A beautiful day, some fast down bits and rode with a bunch that knew where the hell we were...
Even got back just before the downpour.
